DEVELOPMENT OF TRUCK TERMINALS / LOGISTIC HUBS

As a part of implementation of Master Plan of Hyderabad Metropolitan Area, HMDA proposes to develop Truck Terminals / Logistics Hubs in the Metropolitan Area abutting National Highways. It is envisaged that these integrated logistic hubs should run on self sustainable model on a BOT structure wherein the commercial activities will generate enough resources. Hence, Logistic Hubs are proposed to be developed on Public Private Partnership (PPP) Model.

More than 30,000 freight vehicles ply on Hyderabad roads daily around 1 lakh ton cargo is purely bound to / from Hyderabad daily generating a demand for warehousing of about 10 Lakh Sft space and Parking demand for about 10,000 cargo vehicles.

Typically a Logistics Hub is envisaged to fulfill the following objectives:

- To provide parking facility for the inbound / outbound commercial heavy vehicles.
- To reduce turn around time of commercial vehicles, ensuring efficiency and more return on capital deployed.
- Eliminate the parking and loading / unloading instances within Hyderabad City.
- To cater to the logistic requirements of the industries with establishment of warehousing offices of transporters, clearing & forwarding agents (CFA’s).
- To provide rest and related facilities for the crew.
- To provide for vehicle repairs & maintenance and related activities
- To develop requisite commercial facilities for sustaining logistics operations and cater to the needs of working population and visitors.

This facility would offer one stop shop solution for the entire logistics requirement of the companies.

- HMDA has identified Govt Lands on 8 corridors around Hyderabad with an area ranging from 20 Acres to 40 Acres.
- Land at five locations at Peddashapur, Batasingaram, Muraharipally, Mangalpally & Edulabad has been taken over by HMDA.
- M/s IL&FS IDC has been appointed as Project Advisors for structuring the project on PPP and assisting HMDA in selection of Developer(s).
- The Project Advisors have submitted Inception Report on 20th June 2009 recommending the following:
