National Urban Transport Policy (2006) of the Govt. of India (GoI) envisages all metropolitan cities having million plus population cities to have a Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority. In conformity, under the provisions of Section -16 (1) of HMDA Act, 2008, Chapter 4; HUMTA (Hyderabad Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority) for Hyderabad Metropolitan Region /Area was constituted with an objective to ensure the implementation & co-ordination of various Traffic &Transportation measures undertaken by concerned departments and Public agencies, in the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region / Area.
